Public investment is a deposit of AED 2 million. The student route has none of that. The qualifying test is a grade, and a grade costs nothing, which is why the searches behind it are shaped differently from the rest of this site. Its fee block reads: residence permit fee AED 1,100, Knowledge Dirham AED 10, Innovation Dirham AED 10, fee inside the country AED 500, delivery AED 20. Those five lines add to AED 1,640, and that is where nearly every estimate on this keyword stops.
It should not stop there, because the note printed immediately under the fee block changes the answer. GDRFA states that the issuance fee increases by AED 100 annually whenever the residency is over two years. A student Golden Residency is not a two-year permit on any reading of any of the four pages, so AED 1,640 is the floor of the schedule rather than a total.
Read literally, the note adds AED 100 for each year past the second. On a five-year permit that is three extra years and on a ten-year permit it is eight, which puts the permit alone somewhere around AED 1,940 and AED 2,440 respectively. We are writing "around" deliberately. GDRFA publishes the rule and not the resulting table, so the only way to get a figure anyone will commit to is to ask GDRFA or an Amer centre for the total on your specific term. Four official pages, two different answers on how long it lasts
This is the part none of the competing guides addresses, and it moves more money than any other line on the route. The UAE Government's official portal lists the outstanding students category as five years for high school achievers and ten years for top university students. That split is repeated across most of the agency content ranking on this keyword, which is presumably where it came from.
The ICP's own Golden Residency guide says something different. Under Outstanding Students it gives ten years for top-performing secondary school students, or their equivalent, graduating from schools in the UAE, then ten years for top-performing bachelor's graduates from accredited UAE universities, then ten again for master's and doctoral graduates. There is no five-year line anywhere in that section.
GDRFA Dubai agrees with the ICP rather than the portal. Its student service page opens by stating that the permit is valid for 10 years and is non-extendable if the same conditions are met, and it draws no distinction at all between the school leaver and the graduate. The Abu Dhabi Residents Office publishes ten years for high school graduates and ten years for university graduates as well.
So three of the four official pages say ten, and the fourth, which is the one most of the internet is quoting, says five for school leavers. We are not going to resolve that, and a provider should not pretend to either. It is a question for the authority issuing your file, in writing. What we can do is show exactly what it costs to guess wrong, which is the next section.

Put both together and the published-figure range for a Dubai-issued student permit runs from roughly AED 2,540 at five years to roughly AED 3,540 at ten. That is a difference of about AED 1,000 turning entirely on a term that two official pages describe differently, and it is before the medical fitness test, before health insurance, and before a single certificate has been attested. For a student who grew up in Dubai on a parent's visa, that is a formality. For a first-class graduate of a top-100 university abroad with no UAE file at all, it is a door closed at emirate level, and no fee schedule anywhere will tell you so. That is where the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research recognition service lands, and it is the largest cost on this route that is not a visa fee. Its page describes qualification verification through one of the Ministry's approved partners at a fee of 350, and recognition report fees beginning at AED 100 for diploma and bachelor's categories, with a service time of 18 working days and a note that additional documents may be requested. For a student whose entire case rests on a foreign degree, that is both a bill and the longest single wait on the file, longer than the five days GDRFA quotes for the permit itself.
The two-year graduation window is what makes the wait expensive rather than merely slow. Eighteen working days of recognition, plus attestation, plus translation where the certificate is not in English or Arabic, plus however long the nomination step takes, all have to fit inside a window that started on the day you graduated and is running whether you have begun or not.

Sponsor your family is the line every guide uses about the Golden Visa, and on the student route GDRFA's own notes qualify it heavily in two different directions.
For school leavers it is narrow and specific: high-achieving high school students are only permitted to sponsor their parents, excluding siblings. The seventeen-year-old who scores 95% can bring the parents and cannot bring the brother. For graduates it is wider on paper and conditional in practice: university students are permitted to sponsor family members, meaning spouse and children, upon proof of an employment contract, a steady monthly income and housing, in accordance with the conditions and laws governing family sponsorship. The federal description is broader again. The ICP's golden residency guide describes residence permits for spouses and children regardless of their age, as well as for parents. That is a second place where two official pages describe the same benefit differently, and a second reason to get the answer from whichever authority is issuing your file rather than from a brochure.
Whatever the answer, every person added is a separate bill. Each one carries their own Emirates ID priced at AED 100 per year of residence plus AED 100 in smart service fees, their own medical fitness test where they are 18 or over, and their own health insurance. Dubai Health Authority publishes medical fitness from AED 250 for the regular service. One detail is specific to this route: the test applies from age 18, so a school leaver applying at 17 may not face it at the point their parents do.
